Car Hire CDW, Excess & Deposit: Conccordcars Guide

Car hire CDW, excess and deposit are easy to confuse, but they mean different things. Before choosing a car for La Manga, La Manga Club, Murcia Airport or Alicante Airport, it helps to know which amounts are part of the price and which are refundable security.

With Conccordcars, the standard rental includes insurance with an excess. Our optional CDW removes the excess for covered damage and means no excess deposit is retained. Exclusions still apply.

Excess: the amount you may have to pay for covered damage

The excess is your share of the cost of damage covered by the rental agreement. It is not an extra rental fee. At Conccordcars, the amount depends on the vehicle group and is between €700 and €900. Check the amount shown for your selected group before confirming.

Deposit: refundable security rather than a charge for cover

If you choose the standard cover, we retain the corresponding security deposit. When the rental ends without an incident requiring a deduction, that security is returned. Your bank can take additional time to show the refund or release, and any bank charges are outside our control. A deposit and an excess serve different purposes, even when the amounts match.

CDW: an optional, non-refundable part of your rental price

CDW is the name we use for our optional cover without excess for covered damage. You pay for this option as part of the agreed rental price. That payment is not returned simply because the car comes back without damage. The CDW price depends on the vehicle and rental; compare the complete quote rather than treating it as another refundable deposit.

What is excluded even if you choose CDW?

Cover without excess does not mean every possible cost is insured. Our rental conditions list exclusions including tyres and wheels, lost or damaged keys, wrong fuel, damage to the underside or interior, and windscreen or rear-window damage. Negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are also excluded. Read the full conditions for the complete list.

Does separate excess insurance remove our deposit?

A separate policy purchased from another insurer is different from Conccordcars CDW. It does not change your rental agreement with us or automatically remove our deposit. If a charge is covered by that policy, you normally deal with your insurer under its claim rules. Check its limits and paperwork requirements before relying on it.

Before collection, confirm your vehicle group, excess, CDW choice and final price. At handover, check the recorded condition of the car and keep the agreed return details. If anything is unclear, ask our team before you sign.
